this tuesday night, battle ground ohio. president obama and governor mitt romney are both in that crucial swing state tonight. four weeks to the day before the election, and some analysts are pointing out there is a change in the polls. today yet another round of opinion polls showing governor romney pulling ahead of the president after that big debate. the governor now has a two-point lead in the latest gallup poll of likely voters. before the debate, the president was up by five points in the same poll. the obama camp down playing the numbers. one campaign spokesman says he expected this to happen. a live look now in ohio where governor romney is getting ready for a rally. 18 electoral votes up for grabs four weeks from tonight. as i reported, no republican has won the white house without first winning ohio. the governor started his day in another battle ground state, iowa. he responded to one of the president's latest attack lines over the governor's pledge to cut funding for pbs. home of big bird. >> these are tough times with real serious issues. so you have to scratch your head when the p

. mitt romney holds rallies in both ohio and iowa. and i want to take another look at those two polls that everyone is talking about this morning. they seem to paint different pictures of this race. the pew research center gives mitt romney a four-point lead over president obama. 49% to 45%. that survey did include more likely voters who identify themselves as republicans. however, the latest gallup tracking poll has president obama leading mitt romney 50% to 45%. this poll does include voters who were surveyed before the presidential debate which most voters say romney won though interestingly enough, it showed movement toward obama yesterday. all right. hard to keep track of. there's a lot going on here. cnn political reporter peter hamby joins us live from washington. please, peter, make sense of this for us. >> okay. these are the first two real credible polls we've seen since the debate. the bottom line here is there's movement in both toward mitt romney. you're right. the gallup poll had about three days of sampling before the debate that showed obama winning. after the debate,

part a home away from home for both the obama and the romney campaigns. they're spending a lot of time here, a lot of money here because of the role that ohio may ultimately play and who wins this election come november 6. last night mitt romney and paul ryan played to a large crowd in lancaster, ohio. there was a lot of enthusiasm, a lot of excitement in the air. and in large part because they believe the republicans believe they've won these first two debates. governor mitt romney had a pretty strong performance out in denver ten days ago. paul ryan had a pretty solid performance two nights ago down in kentucky. but that excitement and energy notwithstanding there's a lot of work left to be done for this ticket here in ohio. the president still shows a lead here in ohio, even though that lead has been chipped into over the last week or two, by about half in some of these polls. putting mitt romney within striking distance of the president. now, he may still, mitt romney may still have a challenge, a hurdle to clear with some undecided voters here. and that's surrounding this auto bai

. arthur got it right. romney has said now on several occasions, both during the debate several times and just before the debate, he is going to put strict caps -- are you listening, jared -- strict caps on itemized deductions. those caps will range between $17,000 and probably $40,000, $45,000. the more money you make, the lower your cap is going to be. once you apply those strict caps, then the math adds up if you get some decent growth, that is. >> one more thing, larry, the deductions are the greatest benefit at the highest tax rates. so therefore limiting the deductions at the highest rate gives you the greatest base and revenue -- >> all true, art. but here's the thing. he has taken off the table capital gains, dividends, interest deductibility, the mortgage interest deduction -- >> no, he hasn't. he has not. jared, he's said everything is on the table. jared, my friend, when asked this question, besides the specifics of the dollar limit, he has said everything is on the table. come on. that's what he said. >> he can't do that without raising taxes on middle class people. >> yes
